quote-of-the-day
"One thing that's clear in the Scriptures is that the nations do not lead people to peace; rather, people lead the nations to peace." --Shane Claiborne
Yeah, I've been wanting to read The Irresistible Revolution forever. He's actually speaking this December at this huge conference InterVarsity has ever three years called Urbana--hoping to go for sure. And slightly unrelated, but speaking of books and I've been meaning to ask--have you read The Poisonwood Bible?
Ooh, if you go to Urbana and he's there, you'll have to report back. I'm intrigued.
I have read the Poisonwood Bible. What a peculiar book! I thought it was a little overwritten and many of the characters were kind of flat and stereotypical for me, but at the same time I could not put it down. At no point did I consider not finishing it. So, bonus points for being engrossing!
Love Shane Claiborne! (Well, love his writing anyway. Well, loved Jesus for President, the only book of his I've read so far.)
